Your Questions About Drawing And Painting Websites

David Your Questions About Drawing And Painting Websites

David asks…

Painting scenes outside!?

I love to paint and draw. I just would like to know if anyone can help me in drawing scenes outside like trees, a pool scene, and flowers. I also need to know, I usually use acrylic paint but is oil better for painting landscapes? I really want to paint my backyard! So if anyone can help me by posting websites and links it will be gladly appreciated! Thank you icon biggrin Your Questions About Drawing And Painting Websites

Dr.Perry cropped Your Questions About Drawing And Painting Websites

Kathleen answers:

Search on “plein air” that’s what it’s called when you paint outside
I’d think acrylic would be easier because water is easier to clean up

Susan Your Questions About Drawing And Painting Websites

Susan asks…

Any shoes made to paint on?

I want know if you know anywhere to purchase shoes for painting/drawing on? Like I have seen people draw/paint on vans off the wall hoes but where do you get those? A store? The internet?
I am looking for a store (no websites) and that is in Canada.

Dr.Perry cropped Your Questions About Drawing And Painting Websites

Kathleen answers:

Well, you can pretty much draw/paint on any canvas shoe… Such as “Vans”. Or any other shoe that will hold the ink/paint.
They sell knock off vans at stores like Wal-Mart and Payless! Or you can even go with Vans if you’re willing to spend more money.

Nancy Your Questions About Drawing And Painting Websites

Nancy asks…

How Can I Start Drawing Again And What Kind Of Art Is This?

I have started drawing at the age of 3 on and off again. After, I graduated High School I stopped drawing because I had other priorities. I used to draw just because I liked it and not to amaze others, just for myself not for others and it makes me feel better. I like how some people don’t get some of the deep stuff, Art with Symbolism. I Think it is sad.

So I want to know:

1. What kind of Art, Drawings, Painting, or Sculptures show symbolism.

2. What Kind of drawings Brandon Boyd does, his stuff is amazing.

3. What artists do you suggest that have symbolism in their works to inspire me again to draw. Please give me Names, Websites, and Pieces.

4. Should I start with a Sketch Book?

I use to draw during Math Class and Science, but got good grades. I took art classes, but never got to look at things I really liked. I liked some of Da Vinci, Picasso, and above all Salvador Dali. I like Art that you look at and it portrays more than jut a picture.

Thanks

Dr.Perry cropped Your Questions About Drawing And Painting Websites

Kathleen answers:

ART IS A WAY 2 EXPRESS YOURSELF AND HOW YOUR FEELING SO I WOULD SUGGEST 2 DRAW WHATEVER COMES TO MIND WHEN U ARE SITTING THERE IN FRONT OF THE SKETCHBOOK.

Your Questions About Buy Prints On Canvas

Robert Your Questions About Buy Prints On Canvas

Robert asks…

I bought a print from HMV, what do i do with it now?

i bought a print from HMV, u know one of those square posters on a piece of card, well i was wondering what i do with it now? am i supposed to glue it to a canvas or something? please help.

Dr.Perry cropped Your Questions About Buy Prints On Canvas

Kathleen answers:

Yes you can glue it on to canvas or block mounting there are many online stores that sell canvas of all different sizes. These block mounted canvasses with prints on them produce a 3d effect on your wall which is pretty cool. Also most photo processing shops sell canvas that is attached to a wooden frame. You can also buy very cheaply an all glass frame and put the print in this can be a good effect.

Sharon Your Questions About Buy Prints On Canvas

Sharon asks…

I want to buy artwork from 26Gallery.com but I can’t think of a cool word for it to say?

The artist creates abstract prints on canvas of any word you choose which look really cool and I can’t decide what word to get. I like the sample on the site that says “RELAX” but I wanted to think of some other good words to see how those might look. Any suggestions for good inspirational words?

Your Questions About Original Art Prints

William Your Questions About Original Art Prints

William asks…

I am a successful artist. I sell my original art on line and in other places. But …?

but I have large quantity of limited edition Giclees, prints and lithographs; and I am looking for wholesalers, dealers, places that buy art in big quantities. My prices and quality are great.
Does anyone knows such places or their websites? It can be all over the world.
I appreciate your answers.

What does “successful” mean? That you earn your living this way or that you have had some sales? Contact a gallery that deals in prints and repros and ask them…like Park West gallery.

Daniel Your Questions About Original Art Prints

Daniel asks…

Where do I go to make quality prints of my original artwork.?

I’m trying to sell some pieces at a art fair and wanted to know if there is a particular reproduction method? *Note* the less expensive the better! Thank You.

Dr.Perry cropped Your Questions About Original Art Prints

Kathleen answers:

Alas, reproducing art is not a cheap affair. You have to have them done at a fine art lithographer. The common method of creating lithographs does not suit fine art. Finding a lithographer who knows how to do it is hard, too. I have found one in Stockton, California, but cannot get a name yet. I live 2,000 miles from there, so I’m looking primarily closer to me for my own work.

George asks…

where can I buy a roll of those walmart smiley face stickers?

I’m trying to make an artwork pointing out the destructive consumerist obsession of America and I need a lot of those smiley stickers but I can’t find them anywhere online. My guess is that walmart probably doesn’t sell them, but does anyone know where I could get them anyway? I doubt they would just give me a roll if I waltzed in to walmart and asked for them.

I want to create a 3-D virtual art gallery that I can walk around in. What software can I buy to create this?

When I was in college a buddy and I were working on setting up 3-D art gallerys for art students. I found the artist and he did the modeling. He created 3D virtual environments like a video game, you could walk around and look at the artwork on the walls. I want to continue were he left off, yet I also want to be able to post it online and make it so the artist do not have to download any additional software to view the 3D gallery. What kind of software do i need to purchase to do this?

Why don’t you take a look at Google sketchup. You can do a lot with it, and they have recently made it free. There is also another type of virtual software that uses photos, try my site it may give you some ideas –

Your Questions About Drawing And Painting

Betty Your Questions About Drawing And Painting

Betty asks…

What functions do coloring, painting, drawing, cutting, and pasting serve in elementary school?

I remember doing all sorts of artwork when I was in primary school and intermediate school, and since I never got to do my work exactly as I wanted to do it, I always thought it was really lame. Not only that, but I don’t recall ever learning anything from the artwork assignments we did. What exact purpose do artwork assignments serve in elementary and intermediate school, anyway?

Dr.Perry cropped Your Questions About Drawing And Painting

Kathleen answers:

Art deals with hand and eye coordination. This develops their hand on skills and open their eyes to different aspects of life. You have to realize that a lot of children grow up to be artist. Artwork relates to real life situations such as:drama, sadness, the economy, technology, and agriculture. If people did not leave artwork behind we would not know about our past.

what kind of ‘artistic’ (anime, painting, drawing) jobs are there and what do i need to do to get into them?

I love my art.. i am always drawing and i am not that bad at painting and design.. what kind of jobs are there to compliment my love for art? and what do i need to do to get into that profession?

Dr.Perry cropped Your Questions About Drawing And Painting

You can become a manga writer. All you need to do is make a book and then take it to a publisher, the publisher will work with you to revise and edit it. Also you could make your own paintings but they wont sell for big bucks until youre dead (just like every other painters works out there)

Your Questions About Original Art For Sale

Maria Your Questions About Original Art For Sale

Maria asks…

Where is the best place to sell old comic books?

I am trying to get all my spring house cleaning done before winter. I am throwing out a lot of stuff I no longer have any use for anymore.

Really old magazines I am just tossing because what was news or state-of-the-art when I bought them, just is not anymore.

I have scores of comic books from the 1980s and early 1990s. I used to enjoy reading and looking at them but I have outgrown them at this point.

I stopped buying comic books a couple years before the web was born. Are there special sites for selling used comics, or do people sell them on craigslist.org, or is the best bet to look for a comic book collector/sales store in my region and drive them all there?

I would like to get a decent price on my stuff. If I can get original book value on a decent number that would be awesome, like if they have appreciated or held their value. If some are only worth 20% that is okay. Might not be worth shipping price for less than that.

Advice from any comic book buyers/sellers?

Dr.Perry cropped Your Questions About Original Art For Sale

Kathleen answers:

I have a large collection as well. I’ve checked all the auction sites and have determined that people only use those when they don’t want to pay anything. And, since most charge fees to list, it wouldn’t do if you were selling a lot of comics.

I would check the comic book stores in your local area. If you have a good collection, they might make a decent offer.

Helen Your Questions About Original Art For Sale

Helen asks…

Homework Help? Algebra???

A Math Problem I Need Help With!

Three weeks ago, an art supply store started selling a paint kit for 75% of the original price. Now the kit is 15% off of the sale price. The expression 0.75x-0.15(0.75x) represents the current price of th epaint kit where x is the kit’s original price (in dollars). Find the current price of the kit if it originally cost $48.

Please dont tell me the answer, just guide me through the steps on how to get the answer. Thanks

Dr.Perry cropped Your Questions About Original Art For Sale

Kathleen answers:

Ok, you plug $48 as x because x represents the original price. So you have:
0.75(48)-0.15(0.75(48)) = 36 – 0.15(36) = 36 – 5.4 = 30.60

So the current price is $30.60

David Your Questions About Original Art For Sale

David asks…

Has anyone ever heard of an Asian Artist named R. Amorsolo?

I think that is how you spell his name. I have an original oil painting from Japan and it’s dated 1973. My house was for sale when this asian couple came in and told me he had just recently died and now his art work was worth a lot of money. I can’t seem to find him on the internet, the one that came close indicated he died in 1972, but my painting is dated 1973.
I want to sell this painting because I need the money, but I need to research him and I’m not sure if the last two letters are correct in his name because of the way he signed it, could be Amorsola? Anyone know their Art and can tell me any information on this artist? The artist I found was I believe Spanish. So, I’m in need of any help on this??? His first name is only the initial R.??? that is clear. and he signed the painting on the lower left side. It’s an oil painting I think??? PS. the reason I don’t know anything about him is because my ex purchased it in Japan when he worked for the Government and lived there for 7yrs
My children are close to 30yrs old and they have no clue or interest in holding something that is of value. I have held items since they were born to “hand them down to them” today they still tell me, sell it I don’t want it. So….I am very disappointed they have not “learned the value” of something precious, they didn’t get that from me so I need the money, and I want to sell it, I just need help in finding him if he was such a famous artist as I was told by a Japanese couple. Any help would be appreciated in finding him and I cannot find anything on he website reflectionsofasia, but thanks for trying. did you actually find him on there? I couldn’t find him.

Dr.Perry cropped Your Questions About Original Art For Sale

Please contact an art museum and ask to speak with whoever is in charge of purchasing. They should be able to at least determine whether or not your painting is actually worth anything.uh i just found something you will be interested in…he was a Filipino here is a link in my source box.

How do you buy this Fine Art Print.?

I want to buy the Mike Grubb Fine Art Print http://fineartamerica.com/featured/birds-of-the-sun-mike-grubb.html

I’m trying to use a credit card but a step by step guide would be helpful. I am very new to shopping online. Could someone give me a bit of tips and help towards purchasing this. Thank you.

Dr.Perry cropped Your Questions About Buy Art Prints Online

Kathleen answers:

The website is pretty much a step by step guide. Read what is displayed on your website. First you select whether you want to pay the original painting from the artist or this image as a print on canvas, as framed print or whatever. Then you add whatever you have selected to a cart. When you have selected all you want to buy you check out. When you check out you will get asked your personal information, address, credit card number etc and also additional charges for shipping what you ordered will get applied.

Important for any online transactions: do not do this over a wireless in a coffeeshop or using any public connection where anybody has access. Use a non-wireless connection or at least a secured wireless connection where only you or maybe your family has access too (requires a secure password to connect the first time). Don’t let printouts with all your personal info lie around…

Would you buy these Handmade Photography Cards? *PICTURES+LINK*?

Hiya, for a long time now I had been thinking of doing something with my photography. They have been on an online gallery for quite a long time, and people really admire them. I wanted to make something out of them, so I have decided to try and make cards with them.

Today I started printing them and formatting them, and now I have some pretty good prototypes. I used glossy shiny photography paper, and on the inside I put extra hard card for writing surface and for further thicker support for it to stand.

Anyways, here are some pictures of what I have come up with.

CLICK ON THEM TO ENLARGE THE PHOTO FOR BETTER VIEW.

They stand very well, and stable.

Now, if these were presented nicely on a table in a flea market, would you consider purchasing one?

How much would your price range for each card?

Please give me any suggestions and your opinions…on whether you’d buy them..for what reasons…any suggestions to improve them…..I really want good feedback icon smile Your Questions About Buy Art Prints Online

Your Questions About Buy Paintings

Maria Your Questions About Buy Paintings

Maria asks…

Paintings and Camden Market+what would you buy?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have a few months off and was thinking about painting and selling paintings on canvases at Market stalls- in Camden to be more precise. I wouldnt say they are very professional, but decent ones, hand painted on canvases.

Would anyone buy..
What kind of paintings would you buy, sunsets, etc
How much would you be willing to pay..
Also..when you buy things from these types of market do they give a plain carrier bag or do they recylce old supermarket ones…

Many many thanks x

Dr.Perry cropped Your Questions About Buy Paintings

Kathleen answers:

You deffo should give it a try, Great idea and what have you got to lose. I would buy Sunset, also painting with wildife, like Squirrels, rabbits etc in , also Mountains and lakes would be a good try. As to cost, you would have to work out the cost of your material, etc and then begin on a small proffit margin, and if they took off, work up from that. As to bags, its always good to Recycle if you can.
One tip, a daughter of a pal of mine, who is at Art colleage, goes around Charity Shops and Car Boot sales, and buys very cheap paintings in frames, then paints over them, this save her lots of money, and she also sells lots of painting this way. Again its another way to Recycle, old unloved paintings and frames. Just a thought, it works for her. She has even sold to some quite wealthy Americans. Good Luck. Remember me when you make your 1st Million, please

Chris Your Questions About Buy Paintings

Chris asks…

I need help how can i get more people to buy my paintings?

i have a website michaelseasel.webs.com and i tell people about it but i can not get costumers and my paintings are good to does any one know anyone who would be interested

Dr.Perry cropped Your Questions About Buy Paintings

Kathleen answers:

You have to MARKET your art! The more people that know about your art will better your chances of people buying it! It takes approximately 6 months to 1 year to start seeing results of your marketing efforts! But remember, your artwork will only sell if it looks PROFESSIONAL, UNIQUE, OR IS IN DEMAND!

1. Even though its not required, you should still register your art with the copyright office because if you want to sue for damages for copyright infringement your work must be registered! Go to U.S. Copyright Office website for more info!

2. Buy the book, 2011 Artist’s And Graphic Designer’s Market by Mary Burzlaff Bostic at Amazon website or check out this book’s official website called ArtistsMarketOnline. This book is updated every year to include the current contact and submission information for tons of places, such as greeting card companies, publishers, art fairs, art galleries, and more. It will tell you how and where to sell your artwork.

3. Buy the book, Legal Guide For The Visual Artist by Tad Crawford (fifth edition) at Amazon website. This book gives in-depth information on legal issues facing artists.

4. Get a website so people can see your art! Pay for a website address through Go Daddy, Yahoo Small Business, SquareSpace, Pixpa, or another web hosting company. Google search “web hosting” to find more providers. Electronic Commerce is an extra feature that you can buy from your web host. E-commerce allows you to sell things on your website.

Or you can display your art on a free website such as Google Sites, Weebly, Blogger, WordPress Free Blog, Tumblr while you sell your art on Ebay or Etsy website.

Or you can display and sell your art on an art website such as ArtBreak, ArtByUs, ArtyBuzz, ArtQuid, ArtFire, Artist Rising, ArtSlant, ArtSpan, Artid, ArtWanted, CafePress, D’Art Fine Art, Deviant Art, Discovered Artists, Fine Art America, ImageKind, Original Art Online, Qoop, RedBubble, Saatchi Online, Sell-Arts Marketplace, Yessy Art Gallery, Zatista, Zazzle. Some (not all) of these websites allow you to upload a high resolution image of your artwork and the company will reproduce the artwork as prints and other items. They will create and ship the items to your customers and pay you when someone buys your items. Some of these websites allow you to sell your original handmade artwork or photographs also.

Learn “search engine optimization”, which is the process of improving the visibility of a website in search engines. If your website is ranked high in search results, it will more than likely get alot of visitors. Google search the words “search engine optimization” for more information or buy a book on the subject at Amazon website.

5. Mail flyers of your artwork and contact info to all places affiliated with art (art magazines, art museums, art galleries, art supply stores, art schools, art organizations). Also, mail samples to non-art businesses because these could be potential customers that would buy your art, Example: If you paint still life/food, mail flyers to restaurant owners/food corporations. There are tons of business addresses you can find on the internet or Google search “buy mailing lists”.

6. Open an account on photo sharing or video sharing websites (YouTube, Flickr, etc.) that gets high volumes of traffic everyday! Use as MANY tags as possible so your photos/videos can be found by alot of people! Also, if you post comments on other people’s account, they will more than likely check out your account as well. Don’t Spam! Your comment should be about the person’s picture/video! After each comment, type your name, Example: John Doe, Watercolor Artist. You can’t state that you sell artwork on these sites because they generally don’t allow commercialism, so simply type your email/website address under your profile, so people can contact you directly about your art.

7. Ask your family/friends to post a picture of your art and a link to your website on their personal website or blog site to get more exposure.

8. Always carry business cards with you! When the subject of art comes up or you think someone might like to know about your art, give them your business card. Your business card should have your contact info and a picture of your art on it.

9. Make a small photo book of your art and leave it in lobby/waiting rooms (doctor’s office, hotels, etc.) to get more exposure. Generally, a lobby has magazines there for customers to look at while waiting, so ask the business owner if its ok to leave your photo book in the lobby. Make a book at these websites: Blurb, Lulu Enterprises, CreateSpace, Qoop. You can also self-publish a book of your artwork at these websites and make money!

10. Create flyers and pass them out at high traffic areas (park, beach, shopping mall, on the street, in school/college). Your flyers should have your contact info and a picture of your art on it.
